MANKATO — A Mankato woman will serve probation for making violent threats toward a man in October 2022.
Ashley Renee Nelson, 31, was convicted Monday on a felony threats of violence charge in Blue Earth County District Court. Successful completion of probation will lower the conviction to a misdemeanor, while a felony second-degree assault charge against her was dismissed.
Nelson was charged after a man accused her of threatening her over a rumor, according to a criminal complaint. A neighbor at the time told police she heard Nelson make the threat.
The criminal complaint states Nelson reported the man grabbed her arm before she threatened him.
Along with four days of credit for jail time served, Nelson will be on supervised probation for three years. A sentencing order states she’ll be required to abstain from alcohol and drugs, possess no firearms and go through individual therapy.
Nelson will do community service in the sentence to serve program rather than pay a $500 fine, according to the order.
