VALDOSTA — A Valdosta woman has been charged with murder in the Dec. 8 death of a man found dead inside a business, police said Thursday.
Daja Kalice James, 18, was charged with felony murder during the commission of a felony, felony malice murder, two felony counts of aggravated assault and robbery by force in the death of Farooq Baig, 73, of Valdosta, a Valdosta Police Department statement said.
Around 9 a.m. Dec. 8, police responded to a business in the 2100 block of Bemiss Road after E911 received a call about someone in the store possibly being dead, police said.
Officers found Baig dead near gaming machines hidden in the back of the store, the statement said.
Detectives identified James as a responsible party in Baig’s death and located her Dec. 12 eating at a Valdosta restaurant.
Detectives are treating the case as a homicide and police said it appears to be an isolated event.
