A winter weather advisory has been issued until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The Vermilion County Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service issued the advisory and state that freezing rain expected. Precipitation will begin as a mix of snow and sleet before transitioning to freezing rain by mid-morning Monday. Total ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch expected.
Portions of central and west-central Illinois, including Vermilion and surrounding counties, are in the advisory area.
The advisory takes effect at 3 a.m. Monday.
Difficult travel conditions are possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes.
