A wind chill watch has been issued by the Vermilion County Emergency Management agency and the National Weather Service for Vermilion and surrounding counties.
The watch is in effect for the county from Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon.
The alert states that dangerously cold wind chills as low as -30 degrees below zero are forecast for the area. Wind chills at such levels could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
A weather watch means these conditions are expected, but not yet occurring. Residents should start making preparations to protect themselves from this weather event.
