The Vermilion Emergency Management agency and the National Weather Service have issued a wind emergency until 6 a.m. Saturday.
Weather officials are expected west winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
The advisory covers portions of central, east central, southeast, and west central Illinois.
The advisory takes effect at noon today (Friday).
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Areas with fresh snow or falling snow could have significantly reduced visibility at times.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
