Whitfield County pet owners can get their cats and dogs vaccinated against rabies and other diseases and microchipped for a reduced price on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Whitfield County Animal Shelter.
The shelter is at 156 Gillespie Drive in Dalton. No appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are welcome.
The shelter will offer two packages. For $10, pet owners can get their cats and dogs vaccinated for rabies, distemper and parvo. For $20, they can get vaccinations for all those diseases and also get their pet microchipped. A chip can help identify a pet if it gets lost or runs away. Pets can be microchipped anytime for $10.
The rabies vaccine will be the one-year variant, not the three-year. County officials said they want to provide the service to as many pets as possible and the three-year vaccine costs more.
Owners will need to provide a driver’s license or other documentation to show they are Whitfield County residents.
