The Wenham Museum and local officials snipped the ribbon on several exterior improvements at the museum last week.
A ceremony was held Sept. 12 out on the new patio with a crowd of museum board members, staff, and guests gathered to watch as the museum’s former Executive Director Kristin Zampell Noon, Board of Trustees President Walter C. Meibaum, Exhibits Curator and Manager Jane Bowers, Interim Executive Director Amy Curtis, and Director of Development Emily Bottomley cut the ribbon.
Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr, R-Gloucester, and state Rep. Sally Kerans, D-Danvers, were also on hand with an official citation in recognition of the development of new outside community space, as well as an official citation in recognition of Noon’s years of dedicated service to the museum.
The new and improved exterior features a new brick walkway and patio, updated signage, enhanced lighting, fencing, seating, and a large climb-on wooden train play structure that has already proven to be popular with museum visitors. The improvements were made possible with the support of community preservation funding from the town of Wenham and by those who purchased engraved bricks and donated in support of the project.
The Wenham Museum marked its 100th anniversary last year.
