MANKATO — The VINE Adult Community Center, which is celebrating its 10th year at its location, has announced major facilities improvements in the next year.
Renovations will expand fitness opportunities, update and improve the accessibility of the lobby entrance, and add more social and educational spaces. Outside the building on Hickory Street, 43 parking spaces will be adding to the lot, increasing the number of handicap-accessible spaces.
“This ambitious renovation fits our mission and will ensure the VACC continues to thrive for another decade and beyond,” VINE CEO Melinda Wedzina said in a statement.
Brunton Architects is working on the first phase of construction, which will include parking and site engineering. Phase 2 will focus on the interior renovations.
“We are working carefully with the architects on the logistics of the construction,” Wedzina said. “If we have to close a certain space for construction, we will have a space of similar accessibility available for use. We won’t be closing the whole building.”
The entire project is slated for completion in summer 2025 and costs will be finalized following bidding.
