Two people were injured and two escaped injury in this single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 127 just south of Dunroven Dr. on the edge of the parking lot of Cumberland Mountain Market. Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office deputies along with the fire department and two Cumberland County EMS ambulances responded Sunday around 11:30 a.m. Deputy Jake Brink wrote in his report Cathy Guerra, 64, Pikeville, was driving a 2019 Acura van through the parking lot to re-enter Hwy. 127 S. The report said she got the vehicle too close to a large ditch, turned too sharply and traveled into the ditch, causing the van to roll onto its side. Off-duty firefighters helped those temporarily trapped inside the vehicle to get out. Passenger March Ann Day, 84, Pikeville, and Guerra were taken to Cumberland Medical Center’s emergency room to have minor injuries checked. Passengers ages 7 and 10 were not injured. No citations were issued.
