Television personality and outdoor enthusiast Misty Wells embarked on an adventure in Niagara Falls this past October, capturing the essence of the region’s natural beauty and outdoor escapades for an upcoming episode of her Discovery Channel show, “Let’s Take it Outside.”
Embracing the spirit of outdoor adventure, Wells fished in the Niagara River and Lake Ontario with Frank Campbell, outdoor promotions director for Destination Niagara USA, which arranged her visit.
“Misty was impressed with the size and variety of fish available in the waters of the Niagara River,” he said. “She was even able to catch her first walleye, which was then prepared by the chef at Casa Antica in Lewiston.”
In addition to her dining experience at Casa Antica, Wells had the opportunity to enjoy Savor Restaurant at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, which features a prix fixe menu prepared in an open kitchen by the students studying culinary arts at the college.
“Misty enjoyed her meal so much that she came back for dinner a second time during her stay,” said Dan DiPirro, instructor and coordinator of the Hospitality Program at NFCI.
Outside of fishing and dining, Wells took the opportunity to explore historical landmarks, including a visit to the historic Old Fort Niagara, where she was treated to a guided tour with Executive Director Robert Emerson. Additionally, she visited Sanger Farms in Youngstown, experiencing her first hayride and apple picking experience with owner Michael Tuck.
Wells also took a ride on the Maid of the Mist and visited the Cave of the Winds.
The forthcoming episode of “Let’s Take it Outside” is set to air early in 2024.
