Cooler temperatures, tasty food, lively music and two giant full moons are sure to draw residents to downtown Meridian on Thursday night for the last Full Moon on 5th event of the season.
“It’s the last one of the season. The weather is going to be gorgeous. Grab a lawn chair and grab a blanket, and come on out,” said Debby Delshad of the Arts & Community Events Society, or ACES, which presents the Full Moon event.
Set in a giant block party atmosphere, Full Moon on 5th will run from 6-9 p.m. on Fifth Street between 22nd and 23rd avenues along the MSU Riley Center complex.
“Normally, we have Full Moon on a Friday, but the Riley Center has an event on Friday, so we are moving it to Thursday,” Delshad said. “We are hoping people will still come out.”
The fall season of Full Moon on 5th is the fourth series of the event, which started with a spring season in 2022.
Taking the stage to conclude this season will be Tyler Tisdale, a singer-songwriter from Hattiesburg who is finding success with an acoustic guitar in hand as he creates his own sound from a blend of folk, country and soul music.
The ACES art gallery on Fifth Street will be open, and event goers will have the opportunity to purchase works by member artists already in the gallery or from artists who will be painting live at the event.
As with other events this season, Full Moon will feature lots of good food vendors, including TP’s Smokehouse, Harvest Grill, Mama Duck Sweets, V Lounge and Aces Hot Dogs. Children will also get the chance to be creative at an activities table.
The event is free and open to the public. Sponsors for the event are Mitchell Distributing and Magnolia Beverage Company.
Delshad said anyone planning to attend should remember to bring a lawn chair and a blanket since temperatures are expected to be dropping during the evening. As always, pets are welcome, she said.
