TIFTON — Matthew Malone earned GIAA All-State in 2023 and he was one of three 1st team named All-Region for 3-AAA for the Tiftarea Academy Panthers.
Joining Malone as 1st team picks are John Jackson and Parks Parrott. Jackson is a sophomore, with Parrott and Malone graduating the this year.
Malone hit .341 this season, according to team stats input on GameChanger. He scored 21 times in 25 games, driving in 15. Fourteen of his 28 hits went for extra bases, which included three home runs. Malone also struck out 21 hitters in 20 innings.
Parrott was a big surprise for the Panthers this season, stepping up to be one of the team’s most valuable players.
He won four contests for Tiftarea pitching, with a team-high 56 strikeouts in 49 innings pitched. Parrott’s 21 RBIs topped the Panthers and his .338 average only trailed Malone. He had the team’s other homer, hit against Fitzgerald.
Jackson hit .329, scoring 22 times and driving in 13. He also earned All-Region in 2022.
Head coach Chance Benson said three Panthers earned honorable mention All-Region, Hershel Moore, Lane Cole and William Garner.
