MANKATO — A late-model SUV was discovered submerged in Hiniker Pond Saturday morning, but no one was believed to have been injured in the incident at the Mankato park just west of Highway 169 on the city’s north side.
The 2020 GMC Acadia was recovered by the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and the Mankato Department of Public Safety. The Acadia was in about 12 feet of water about 60 yards from shore in the west bay near the swimming beach, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
“The Acadia was unoccupied when it was recovered,” the Sheriff’s Office stated. “The circumstances leading up to the vehicle going into the water remain under investigation, but it appears intentional. No one is believed to have been injured during the incident.”
