JAY — State Police are advising residents of the Ausable Acres neighborhood to stay indoors while they pursue suspects of an alleged shooting incident on Sawmill Road.
The Town of Jay Facebook page put out an advisory Monday night on its official Facebook page urging residents to “stay in their residence at this time.”
According to a news release by New York State Troop B, at approximately 5:23 p.m. Monday night, “troopers were contacted regarding two suspicious males walking on the road, carrying long guns.”
At approximately 6:29 p.m., troopers responded to Sawmill Road in the town of Jay, for an alleged shooting at a vehicle.
The suspects fled into a nearby wooded area. State Police have set a perimeter around the surrounding area, the release said.
State Police drone operators, K9s, SORT, and Tri-County SRT were actively searching the area.
“These suspects would possibly be in possession of weapons, do not approach them,” State Police warned in the release.
