OAKLAND — Noah Wilt scored a game-high 19 points, and No. 5 Southern rolled to a 60-34 rout of Garrett County rival Northern on Friday night.
Southern (13-6), which pushed its win streak to six games, jumped out to a 17-9 lead and held an edge of 33-16 at the half and 45-27 after three periods.
Wilt scored 16 points during the second and third quarter. Isaiah Keller joined him in double figures with 10 points, and Jared Haskiell added seven, all of which he scored during the first period.
Northern (9-11) was paced by Robbie Rollman and Alex Knauff with 10 and eight points, respectively.
The Rams, which jumped to No. 4 in this week’s area poll, host No. 3 Fort Hill (14-4) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Northern is at Shanksville on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
No. 2 East Hardy 85 Northern 48
ACCIDENT — East Hardy exploded for 15 3-pointers and dominated Northern by 34 points over the final three quarters to cruise Saturday for its ninth straight win.
The Huskies began the game scoring eight of the first 10 points, but, behind JW Teets’ 11 first-quarter points, the Cougars took a 17-14 edge after one.
East Hardy (14-1) controlled the second quarter 26-14 to lead 43-28 at the half, and it led 64-35 going into the fourth.
Teets topped East Hardy with 24 points, followed by Evan Hamilton with 17 and Jordan Teets with 15. All three made three 3-pointers.
Nate Smith and Mason Hamilton sunk two triples each.
Abe Schilpp ended with 10 points for Northern, which had 10 players score.
East Hardy is at Trinity Christian on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Petersburg 64 Moorefield 47
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Petersburg hit five triples and outscored Moorefield by 14 points in the first quarter Friday to beat the Yellow Jackets.
Kaleb Kuhn hit three 3-pointers in the opening eight minutes as part of his game-high 24 points, helping the Vikings (13-4) open a 21-7 lead. Petersburg led 35-22 at the half and 50-37 entering the fourth.
Peyton Tingler made two 3s and added 14 points, and Trace Rohbaugh scored 11 for Petersburg. Ronny Griest paced Moorefield with 23 points, scoring his 1,000th career point during the defeat.
Petersburg is at Keyser (6-12) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Moorefield (5-13) is at Berkeley Springs on Wednesday.
Mtn. Ridge 69 Clear Spring 52
FROSTBURG — Will Patterson scored 22 points to help guide Mountain Ridge to a rout of Clear Spring on Friday night.
The Miners (11-8) trailed 14-12 after the first quarter but clamped down defensively to take a 21-14 lead into the half. Patterson caught fire in the third quarter, hitting three 3-pointers and scoring 11 points, and Mountain Ridge led 58-39 after three.
In addition to Patterson, Ian Duncan and Cameron Breighner scored in double figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Duncan was 9 of 10 at the free-throw line, and the Miners were 15 for 20 as a team.
Dillon Albowics finished with 19 points to pace Clear Spring.
The Miners defeated Smithsburg, 62-43, in junior varsity action Friday behind 21 points from Carter Clites and 14 from John Delaney. Carter Nesbitt tallied 12 points for Smithsburg.
Mountain Ridge hosts Berlin Brothersvalley (19-2) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Pendleton Co. 71 Paw Paw 43
FRANKLIN, W.Va. — Pendleton County outscored Paw Paw by 25 in the first half to notch a lopsided win on Saturday.
The Pirates (12-7) struggled from the field at the onset, scoign just seven points in the first period and eight in the second to trail 38-25 at the intermission.
Donovan Tanouye, who ended with a game-high 21 points, six rebounds and three assists, tallied 11 of Paw Paw’s 15 first-half points.
Paw Paw scored 19 points in the third quarter but it was too little too late in the 28-point loss.
Taylor Carder also finished in double figures for Paw Paw with 12 points.
Pendleton County was led by Wyatt Franklin’s 18 points, and Cashton Kisamore chipped in 13.
Paw Paw is at No. 2 East Hardy (14-1) on Friday at 6 p.m.
Tygarts Valley 65 Union 55
MOUNT STORM, W.Va. — Tygarts Valley scored 44 points after halftime to pull away from Union on Saturday.
Union (7-9) left the opening eight minutes with a 14-10 lead, but Tygarts Valley took a 21-20 edge into the break and outscored the Tigers, 44-35, after halftime to secure the win.
Kaden Moore and Jacob Wamsley paced Tygarts Valley with 22 and 18 points, respectively.
For Union, Braylon Ward tallied 15 points, nine assists and four steals, Josh burdock added 18 points, and Jacob Haines and Erik Linksweiler scored nine apiece.
Union hosts Turkeyfoot on Monday at 7 p.m.
