The National Weather Service Buffalo office has issued a severe thunderstorm warming for northeastern Erie County and southwestern Niagara County Wednesday afternoon, with remnants of Hurricane Beryl passing through.
The warming impacts the cities of Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and North Tonawanda, the towns of Cheektowaga, West Seneca, Lackawanna, and Amherst, and the villages of Kenmore and Depew. It will be in affect until 2 p.m.
The NWS expects wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour, expecting damage to roofs, sidings, and trees. Torrential rainfall occurring may lead to flash flooding, with the NWS advising not driving your vehicle through flooded roadways.
A tornado watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for all of Western New York, with a tornado warning in effect for portions of Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming counties. If a tornado occurs, the NWS advises to go into the basement or small central room of a study structure.
