MANKATO — The Minnesota Department of Transportation reopened several more south-central Minnesota highways that had been flooded.
All entrance and exit ramps at Highway 169/60 to the Lookout Drive/Center Street area in North Mankato reopened Saturday morning. The ramps had been closed since June 24 as city crews constructed a temporary earthen dike in lower North Mankato.
A section of Highway 22 between St. Peter and Mankato opened to traffic Saturday as did a section of Highway 169 from Le Sueur to St. Peter.
Motorists should expect delays through Tuesday on a section of Highway 22 about 6 miles south of Mankato, near the Le Sueur River. Crews are placing rocks to protect embankments damaged by heavy rains and flooding. Flaggers and a pilot car will be working in the section.
Traffic continues to be reduced to one lane on a section of Highway 169’s northbound lanes, just north of Le Sueur. The lane restriction is near a temporary dike MnDOT crews have placed to hold back floodwaters.
A 7-ton weight restriction is in effect this week for motorists using Highway 169 between Le Sueur and Union Street in St. Peter.
Highway 99, near the Minnesota River bridge, on the east side of St. Peter, Highway 93, between Highway 169 and Le Sueur, and Highway 19 east of Henderson, remain closed to traffic.
