TRAVERSE CITY — Munson Healthcare officials reported “bad actors” imitating Munson human resources staff were offering people false jobs and sending fake checks to purchase job equipment.
A statement from Munson on Friday warned job candidates about the scam, saying the nonprofit hospital group would never ask for personal financial information or payment during the application process.
They provide employees working remotely with equipment and have one legitimate job site — munsonhealthcare.org/careers.
Official communication would come only from company email addresses ending in @mhc.net, the statement read.
Munson officials asked those who received suspicious job offers to confirm them at careers@mhc.net or (231)935-3329; and advised potential victims to take immediate steps to secure their financial information, and check the Federal Trade Commission’s website about “what to do if you’ve been scammed.”
