ROWLEY — The Rowley Historical Society recently announced its fall season events. The society is located at 233 Main St., (R1A), Rowley.
Friday, Sept. 20: Annual meeting and potluck supper at 6 p.m. Robert ‘Bob” Snow of Rowley will speak about his recent trip to Normandy – “D-Day – 80 years later” Admission is free with a potluck contribution to share or $10 per person. The society will provide a variety of pies for dessert. Public welcome.
Saturday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m,. to 2 p.m.: Open house and barn tours as part of Historic Essex’s Trails and Sails Event, at Platts Bradstreet House and Barn. Free admission
Saturday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m. Rowley Powley’s Harvest Tea. Enjoy a tea party reminiscent of the original Rowley Powley Teas sponsored by the Charter Members of the Society from 1918 to 1929 to raise the funds to ‘retro-rehab’ of the Platts Bradstreet House. Thursday, Oct. 17, 7 p.m. Antiques Appraisal Night with Bob Cianfrocca of Salt Marsh Antiques Rowley. The event takes place at the Rowley Public Library, 141 Main St., (Rt 1A). Free Admission (although a donation of $5 per item to be appraised is suggested). Light refreshments provided
Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7 and 8, 1 to 4 p.m. RHS Annual Christmas Open House Gala. Tours of the 1677 Platts Bradstreet House and Barn, ) decorated in Christmas finery. Refreshments, including hot cocoa and cookies in the barn or eggnog or hot apple cider in the house. Free admission – live music.
