Athens Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at Boonie Doone Apartments off E. Sanderfer Road Monday evening, rescuing three children and two adults, according to Fire Chief James Hand.
In the chief’s release, Hand and Deputy Fire Chief Jesse Knox noted that they first got the emergency call about 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19. The Athens fire and rescue crew called in all available personnel to help put out the flames.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire and contain it shortly after around 6 p.m. No injuries have been reported by the incident, according to the release, but two units of the apartment complex have been heavily impacted by fire, smoke and water damage.
