TRAVERSE CITY — Now’s the time to sign up for healthy habits in the new year.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle is presenting the fully virtual 10th Annual TC Trimdown, encouraging two- and four-person teams to compete in a 10-week health and wellness challenge for $1,800 in gift-certificate grand prizes.
Online registration, which is going on now through midnight on Jan. 2 at www.tctrimdown.com, is required to participate. The cost is $10 per person to register, a portion of which will go to help those in need of assistance through the NW Food Coalition to provide for local food pantries and the NMC Student Food Pantry.
Local sponsors include TART Trails, Whole Health Traverse City, Higgins Hearing & Audiology, Shift Health Center, Weight Walker Poles, Elite Fitness North, Michigan Health & Wellness Center, Sun Plexion Tanning, Bay View Flooring, T-Mobile, Laser Printer Technologies, Northwood Paint & Supply, A-1 Professional Tire & Wheel Service, WTCM — Today’s Country Music, Z93 — Hits from the ‘90s to Now, and many more.
During the 10-week event, the competition will offer challenges, advice and tips from TC Trimdown and their sponsors.
Participants will return, virtually, on March 13 and March 14, 2024, for the Official Weigh-Out.
The teams with the highest percentage of total body weight lost will receive the gift certificate grand prizes at the TC Trimdown Awards Ceremony that will take place on the TC Trimdown Facebook page on March 15, 2024.
Top male, female and co-ed teams of four will receive $400 in gift certificates per team. Top male, female and co-ed teams of two will receive $200 per team.
In previous years, TC Trimdown has engaged more than 4,280 participants who lost more than 47,400 pounds — and donated more than $22,500 to local food pantries.
