TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Sometimes a team can get a bunch of hits, but fail to get the runs to win the game.
For the Danville Dans, it happened on Thursday.
The Dans had nine hits, but could not beat the Terre Haute Rex 2-1 at Bob Warn Field.
Terre Haute scored its runs in the second inning on a two-run home run by Carder Reich. Danville scored its only run in the sixth on a RBI single by Nolan Farley, but could not get any more against the Rex’s pitching staff, striking out seven times and leaving eight men on base.
Meade Johnson had seven strikeouts in five innings for the tough loss, while Mason Robinson had one strikeout in three innings.
Aaron Downs and Graham Mastros each had two hits for the Dans, who are now 14-12 and will play the Champion City Kings on Friday in a doubleheader.
