MANKATO — Charley Fernandez won the all-around, leading Mankato West to a second-place finish at the Big Nine Conference gymnastics meet Saturday at K&G Gymnastics.
Owatonna won the team title with 146.100, followed by West at 141.300. Mankato East placed fifth at 130.44.
Fernandez scored 36.600 in the all-around to edge teammate Grace Jacobson, who scored 35.975. East’s Rylie Hansen placed fourth at 35.850.
Fernandez placed first on floor exercise at 9.575 and third on bars at 8.975.
Hansen won the vault at 9.650 and placed second on bars at 9.075.
Fernandez, Hansen, Jacobson, East’s Aubrey Britz and West’s Niya Hauer received all-conference honors.
Boys swimming and diving
Big Nine Conference meet: Jordan Hogue won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.24 seconds, helping Mankato East/Loyola to a fourth-place finish at the conference meet, held at Rochester.
Hogue also placed second in the 100 backstroke in 54.93.
Elliot Bartell placed third in the 100 butterfly in 53.59 and fifth in the 50 freestyle in 22.49. Spencer Flitter finished fifth in diving with 345.80 points.
East’s 200 medley relay team of Hogue, Kaleb Kim, Bartell and Isaac Luthmers finished third in 1:40.48, and Bartell, Luethmers, Isaiah Anderson and Hogue placed fourth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:23.84.
West’s top finishes came in the relays. The 400 freestyle relay team of Isaac Sanderson, Ian Ray, Trey Sabatka and Daxter Bosch placed seventh in 3:44.35.
Kaid Maxwell, Sam Simmons, Wyatt Bartell and Bosch also finished in seventh place in 1:49.26.
Rochester Century won the meet with 431 points. East/Loyola was fourth at 203.5, and Mankato West finished ninth at 101.
Girls basketball
St. Peter 58, Marshall 52: Rhyan Holmgren had 20 points and nine rebounds as the Saints won the Big South Conference game at home.
Annika Southworth added 18 points and four rebounds, and Maddie Kamm had nine points and seven rebounds.
St. Peter plays at Waseca on Tuesday.
Boys basketball
Minnesota Valley Lutheran 100, Tri-City United 76: Ben Pearson scored 31 points, and Kyler Flunker had 26 points as the Chargers won a nonconference game at Montgomery.
Will Kaesermann added 11 points.
For TCU, Luke Holicky made six 3-pointers and scored 30 points. Abdoulaye Tandia added 18 points, and Reggie Vosejpka scored 16 points.
Boys hockey
Totino-Grace 5, Mankato West 1: Jaeger Zimmerman scored West’s only goal in the third period of a nonconference loss at All Seasons Arena. Hunter Rigdon assisted on the goal.
West had eight shots on goal. Mason Schreiber made 38 saves.
Rochester Century/John Marshall 3, Mankato East 2: Rochester had a 40-17 advantage in shots on goal in the Big Nine Conference game at All Seasons Arena.
Luke Lebens and Caden Hansen had the goals. Jack Hansen and Boston Beltz each had an assist.
Brody Kunst made 37 saves.
