TRAVERSE CITY — Drayten Evans coasted to the top of the Central Lake record books.
The Trojans’ senior guard scored a school-record 50 points, going 23-of-29 on field goal attempts in a 101-50 win over Grand Traverse Academy on Thursday.
“This is what we needed,” Trojans head coach Chase Hibbard said. “I told the guys the conference is kind of out of reach now, so we have to get better for districts.”
Evans’ 50 also ties the all-gender basketball record at Central Lake, equalling the mark set by former Miss Basketball winner Jasmine Hines.
Garrison Barrett added 26 points, four steals and four assists for the Trojans. Evans had seven steals and four assists as well. Grant Miller pitched in 10 points and three steals.
Nate Dix, Matt Kinney and Charlie Dennis each scored 10 for GT Academy.
The Trojans (6-9, 3-6 Ski Valley) host Onaway on Wednesday, while the Mustangs (0-12) welcome the Cadillac Homeschoolers next Tuesday.
