CRETE — The Danville football team’s non-conference game with Crete-Monee actually had a promising start.
The Vikings were able to recover an early fumble at the 45-yard line, but when they could not convert on fourth down, the Warriors would take it from there.
Crete-Monee scored the first four touchdowns of the game after that, putting Danville in a 28-0 hole by the second quarter. The Vikings could not recover as they lost 70-18 on Friday.
Danville got on the board on an Hook and Ladder Play which say Darius Jay connect with Jerry Reed III who would then connect with JaVaughn Robinson for a 54-yard score.
ThHe Warriors would score two more times before Reed would find the end zone on a 58-yard reverse. Jay would score on a 22-yard run later in the quarter, but Crete-Monee would build a 56-18 halftime lead.
In the second half, Robinson picked off a pass in the end zone, but the Vikings could not get anything together as the game finished under a continuous clock.
Danville is now 1-4 overall and will return to Big 12 Conference action against Champaign Central next week.
