PONTIAC — The Danville boys basketball team had a tough start to the Pontiac Holiday Tournament on Thursday, losing 70-36 to Benet Academy.
The Vikings hung tough with Benet early on as they were only down 15-13 after the first quarter, but that was the closest they got as Benet outscored Danville 26-10 in the second.
CL Dye and Amir Beasley each had eight points for Danville, while Corey Frye had six, Ajani Davis had four and JaVaughn Robinson and Eriean Smith each had three.
The Vikings are now in the consolation bracket of the tournament and will play either Bloom or West Aurora at 8 a.m. on Friday. The winner of that game will play in the consolation semifinal at 9 p.m.
