MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA — A motor vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Lincoln Street sent one man to the hospital with what were said to be minor injuries.
At 1:51 p.m., North Shore Regional 911 Center alerted Manchester-by-the-Sea Police and Fire to “a motor vehicle versus a tree on Lincoln Street.”
The man’s vehicle, a Subaru Outback, crashed near 8 Lincoln St., Manchester Fire Chief James “Jake” McNeilly said.
“It was a single-car accident into a tree,” he said.
McNeilly said the middle-aged man was transported to Beverly Hospital. The fire chief said he did not know the cause of the crash.
“There was significant damage to the car,” McNeilly said.

7:04 p.m.: Police responded to Loring Court where a man reported his neighbor had stolen two of his buoys and that they were in the back of the neighbor’s pickup. Police said it appeared the neighbor had recently cleaned up the area including the fence where the buoys were attached. Buoys attached to the man’s fence were not removed, the report said. The neighbor said the buoys were on his property. Neither party had evidence to show to whom the buoys belonged.
5:02 p.m.: Police took a report of harassment by a neighbor on Cross Street.
4:57 p.m.: Credit card fraud was reported on Western Avenue.
Crashes with property damage only reported on Route 128 southbound at 8:16 a.m., at the entrance to Market Basket on Route 128 northbound at 4:41 p.m., and at the Blackburn Rotary on Route 128 northbound at 4:42 p.m. could not be located.
3:58 p.m.: Services were rendered for a crash with property damage only at Centennial Avenue and Washington Street.

Disturbances: At 11:38 p.m. on Nautilus Road and at 9:26 p.m. at the Speedway station on Main Street, with area searches not turning up anything; at 10:31 p.m. on Leslie O. Johnson Road, with the report deemed unfounded; and at 1:20 a.m. on Sawyer Avenue and 12:06 a.m. on Leslie O. Johnson Road, when peace was restored.
9:58 p.m.: Services were rendered for a juvenile offense reported on Veterans Way.
8:27 p.m.: A well-being check at the West Gloucester Train Station on Essex Avenue resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old Gloucester woman on a default warrant for failing to appear in court. A caller was concerned about a couple on a bench who appeared to be going in and out of consciousness. Police spoke with the couple and eventually learned the woman had an active arrest warrant out of Lowell. She was arrested and taken to the station. Both the man and the woman refused medical attention.
7:45 p.m.: A call to assist the Fire Department on Stuart Road was referred to another agency.
7:26 p.m.: Services were rendered for a report of an harassment order violation on Langsford Street.
6:53 p.m.: A person in custody was taken to Middleton Jail.
5 p.m.: A past disturbance on Cross Street resulted in police planning to file a criminal complaint against a 55-year-old Gloucester man on a charge of threatening to commit a crime. A man told police he was threatened by the person facing the charge in what was an ongoing issue. Another man said the person facing the charge told him to come down to the Jodrey State Fish Pier and he would assault him. During the argument, the person being charged allegedly walked toward one of the men and fearing he was going to be attacked, the man extended his arm to keep the other man away. One of the men provided a video of the incident. The man being charged told police one of the men had threatened him multiple times with a weapon. The man also told police he had been assaulted earlier but that he did not wish to press charges. The man refused to tell police what caused the argument prior to the video recording. He told police he just wanted to be left alone. The Fire Department evaluated the man and he refused medical attention. All parties were advised on how to get an harassment prevention order.
Crashes with property damage only: at 4:50 p.m. on Grant Circle with the incident under investigation; and at 8:33 a.m. on East Main Street with services rendered.
4:19 p.m.: Services were rendered for a report of a disabled vehicle at Exit 53 of Route 128 northbound.
4:14 p.m.: Vandalism was reported on Lincoln Park.
4:02 p.m.: Services were rendered for a report of debris in the roadway on Grant Circle.
1:15 p.m.: A well-being check at Walgreens at 201 Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 48-year-old Gloucester resident, whose address is listed as homeless, on charges of disorderly conduct, shoplifting and drinking in a public way or place. Police arrived to find the man sitting on the ground outside the store appearing to be drunk, and putting hair dye in his hair, the report said. Police also saw several alcohol nips and a 24-ounce can of beer sitting next to him. The store manager told to police the man came into the store and shoplifted several items, and that he appeared heavily intoxicated. Police found the man had four pairs of sunglasses, water shoes, hair dye, lotion, a bottle of Gatorade and rubber bands on him that appeared to be from the store. The man claimed he had paid for the items. The manager verified he had not paid and multiple employees told police they saw him take the items and leave. The total value of the items was $149.40. After reportedly swearing at officers and arguing he did nothing wrong, he was arrested. He then began screaming and kicking the inside of the cruiser as he was taken to the station for booking, the report said.
9:33 a.m.: Lynn Police were assisted with a report on Proctor Street.
8:02 a.m.: A well-being check at Pavilion Beach resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old Gloucester resident whose address is listed as homeless on charges of resisting arrest, possession of a Class A drug and two warrants on charges of failing to appear in court. Police found the man passed out in a beach chair. The officer was able to wake up the man and eventually learned his name. The report describes a short scuffle when the man allegedly refused to stand up and put his hands behind his back as the officer had ordered. Two officers arrived to help the officer place the man in handcuffs. During an inventory search of his backpack, police found a folded piece of paper containing a twist plastic bag containing a brown powdery substance suspected to be fentanyl, along with a smoking pipe with whitish brown residue on it. The man declined medical attention when asked if he had any injuries. Police noted that the man had previously been charged with shoplifting, accused of stealing LED lights from Walgreens. Police found the man had these same lights strung around his beach chair.
3:44 a.m.: Police responded to a disabled vehicle on Route 128 northbound at Exit 53 and planned to file a complaint against a 23-year-old Everett resident on a charge of driving without a license. Police located a white Ford Focus in the breakdown lane with its hazard lights on and learned from dispatch there was no license status on the car’s owner. Through an interpreter, the driver told police he did not have a license. He told police he began having issues with the car, and that it might have run out gas. The man moved into the breakdown lane and attempted to call friends for help but he was unsuccessful. Tally’s arrived to tow the vehicle. Police provided a courtesy ride to the Saltwater Grille on Washington Street where the driver was able to get a ride home using Uber.
Rockport Monday Aug. 5
8:36 p.m.: Assistance was provided to a person on Beach Street.
Medical emergencies: Individuals were taken to a hospital from Hodgins Road at 8:52 a.m., King Street at 11:30 a.m. and Story Street at 7:22 p.m. Ambulance transport was refused on Granite Street at 9:01 a.m. after a crew responded to a medical alarm.
Traffic stops were made on Thatcher Road at 2:03 p.m. when a a verbal warning was given, and on Mt. Pleasant Street at 2:27 p.m. when a written warning was issued.
Town by-laws: Verbal warnings for violations were given on Quarry Road at 11:09 a.m. and 1:19 p.m..

The fire was “electrical in nature” Manchester Fire Chief James “Jake” McNeilly said, who also reported there were no injuries in the blaze and only minor damage to the boat.
