QUEENSBURY — Three section 7 teams — Plattsburgh, Saranac and Beekmantown — participated in the section 2 hosted NYS Girls Soccer HoF Tournament over the weekend.
Each team played two games against out of conference opponents. None of section 7’s representatives lost a single match over the two days.
In fact, each game was won in convincing fashion .
PHS GAME ONE
PLATTSBURGH 5
QUEENSBURY 1
The Plattsburgh Hornets offense hummed as the team visited section 2’s Queensbury Spartans for its first game of the NYS Girls Soccer Hall of Fame Tournament on Sunday.
The Hornets flooded the Spartans’ defense with a barrage of shots, winning 5-1 on 26 shots to Queensbury’s six.
Amaya Abellard and Bailey Hewson had their fingerprints all over this game, leading in points with three each. Both recorded two goals and an assist each.
Hewson opened the scoring off an assist from Abellard just 2:34 into the first half. Hewson found the back of the net again eight minutes later with the assist from Sophia Amaya-Guiterrez.
The Hornets ended the first half with an inverse of its opening goal. Abellard notched her first goal of the night off of an assist from Hewson at 27:23.
In the second half Abelard scored again at 16:58, with Emma Tuller assisting. Olivia LaMountain brought the game to its final score with nine minutes left to play. Miyasia Do assisted.
“It was good for the team to see some new competition,” said Plattsburgh girls’ soccer coach Tim Mulligan.

Plattsburgh played as near-perfect a game as possible against Amsterdam in its second match of the NYS Girls Soccer Hall of Fame Tournament, scoring nine goals and completing the shut-out on the defensive end.
Hewson led the Hornets in points with five, scoring a hat trick and a pair of assists. Emma Tuller was right behind her with two goals and assists.
Hewson opened the game with the eventual game winner four and a half minutes into the first half. Sophia Amaya-Guiterrez assisted.
Amaya Abellard and Aubree Mulligan also notched goals in the first half, both unassisted.
Plattsburgh built on its hot start with a second half that can only be described as dominant, with Emma Tuller contributing heavily to the blowout.
29 seconds into the second, Abellard picked up her second goal off an assist from Tuller. Tuller picked up her second assist eight minutes later, assisting on Hewson’s second goal of the night. Tuller then earned two of her own, finding the back of the net at 11:18 and 15:28, with Hewson assisting both shots.
Hewson completed her hat-trick at 17:44 off an assist by Miyasia Do, who ended the game with her first Varsity goal six minutes later. Zoey Rovito assisted the game’s closing point.

Beekman town shook the section 2 competition with a dominant win to open their two game stretch in the NYS Girls Soccer HoF Tournament on Saturday.
The match ended with a Beekmantown win 6-1.
Parliament had an extraordinary outing, leading the team in points with five; two goals and three assists.
Grace McCasland shined with a hat trick — including the eventual game winner — and an assist on the opening goal.
Jillian Hagadorn scored the remaining Beekmantown goal. Carly Hagadorn recorded an assist in the contest.
Beekmantown’s strong lead was a result of its strong shot total, winning the differential 26-8.
Burdo held down the winner’s goal with six saves. Schuylerville’s goal was manned by Avery Cumm, who recorded 14 saves.

BEEKMANTOWN GAME TWO

QUEENSBURY 0
Beekmantown continued its dominant stretch in the NYS Girls Soccer HOF Tournament behind the offensive effort of Payton Parliament, who recorded a hat trick plus an assist. With the win, Beekmantown earned the championship of its division.
Beekmantown finished the night with a 6-0 win over Queensbury, controlling the offense throughout the match with 34 shots to Queensbury’s four.
Natalie Stone opened up the night’s scoring 24 minutes into the first half. Once the dam broke, Beekmantown was able to put two more shots into the back of the net before halftime. Parliament earned both points for the team, with the first coming off an assist from Rhianna Gilligan.
Gilligan scored her own goal to open the second half, just 2:49 into the second 40 minutes. Parliament completed her hat trick with five minutes left in the game, with Sophie Miller
Meegan Burdo and Lindsey Shanley took turns manning the goal for Beekmantown, with two total saves on the night. Finley Magee stood strong with 22 saves in net for Queensbury.

Evie Liberty helped the Saranac Spartans open strong in game one of the NYS Girls’ Soccer HOF tournament.
Saranac took the win over Waterford-Halfmoon 4-2 over the weekend tournament.
Scoring began when Lily Brown punched a hole in the goalkeeper’s defense off of an assist from Liberty. The two then switched roles for the second and final goal of the first 40 minutes, with Liberty scoring and Brown assisting.
In the second half, Madalyn Wynnik scored with an assist from Madelyn Willette. Liberty then closed the game with her second goal, with Wynnik assisting.
Saranac controlled the pace of the match, more than tripling Waterford-Halfmoon’s shot total with a final differential of 22-7.
Addison Castine earned the win in goal with five saves.

The Spartans continued their strong play into the second day of the tournament shutting out the Horses, 2-0.
Madalyn Wynnik had her foot on both goals, assisting on the first goal before knocking home the second.
Lily Brown opened up the scoring when Wynnik found her in the box to beat the keeper.
Moments later Wynnik scored a goal of her own when McKenzie Hanson connected with her to add the insurance goal.
Saranac would outshoot Schuylerville, 11-4, keeping a strong defense limiting the Horses in opportunities.
Addison Castine earned the clean sheet as she stopped four shots.

ELIZABETHTOWN— The Boquet Valley Griffins hosted girls soccer’s first Epilepsy awareness game of the season on Friday, with both BVCS and the visiting Willsboro Wolves sporting purple and white in support of the cause.
The Griffins shut out the Warriors on their home pitch and took the match 2-0.
Claire Reynolds scored both goals of the night, one in each half. Her first came at 15:30 off an assist by Lila Kullman. Her second goal was unassisted, scoring a long-shot at 20:00 in the second.
The two goals came off of 16 shots for the Griffins. A great defensive game from Boquet valley limited the Wolves to just two shots.
Peyton Leerkes recorded five saves in goal for the Warriors. Ella Pulsifer recorded one save to anchor the shut-out.

CHAZY — The Peru Nighthawks pulled out a close win in Chazy after a slow first half Friday. The Eagles stood strong, but ultimately fell 1-0.
The Nighthawks’ Maggie Garrow scored the game winner 4:34 into the second half, finding the gap in the defense that had shut out the first half.
Meagan Corrow held down the goalie box for Peru, recording three saves in the shut-out. Calleigh Clark worked hard in net for Chazy with nine saves.
Peru won the shot-differential 11-3.
“Peru has some talented players who put pressure on us defensively all game,” Chazy girls soccer coach John Tregan said. “I can’t really find fault with any of our players and collectively it was great to see how we did withstand a team putting pressure on us.”

WILLSBORO — The Lake Placid Bombers dominated the pitch in its season-opening match against the Willsboro Wolves on Friday.
The Bombers showed off a strong offense and defense with the 5-0 win.
Sebil Cecunjanin scored both first-half goals, and completed his hat trick with the first goal of the second half.
Braedon Foley and Samuel Monsalve-Velez also found the back of the net in the second.
Ashton Hathaway stood as Willsboro’s lone goalkeeper in the match, putting up 17 saves in a valiant effort to anchor the Wolves’ defense.
Justin Lushia was the winning goalie of the night with four saves.
The score differential was a result of a staggering shot differential, with the Bombers taking 22 shots in the contest and limiting the Warriors to just four shots.

SCHUYLERVILLE — The Peru Nighthawks scored a shut-out on the road against the Schuylerville Horses on Saturday.
Peru’s Seanan Edwards led the team in goals with two on the night. He opened up the scoring with the game winner just 1:43 into the match off of an assist from Hayden Lozier.
Lozier would earn the next goal 6:55 into the second half off an assist by Spencer Davies. Edwards closed the game with the final goal of the night three minutes later, with Nick Petro assisting.
Both teams took a healthy amount of shots despite the difference in goals. Peru recorded 11 shots to Schuylerville’s eight.
Connor Perrotte grabbed 7 saves as the goalkeeper in the shut-out. Asher Harrison recorded 8 saves in net for the Horses.
