FROSTBURG — Jeremy Phillips poured in a game-high 30 points, and Frankfort held off Mountain Ridge, 67-58, Monday for its first victory of the season.
The Falcons (1-1) jumped out to an 18-6 lead after a quarter with Phillips making four buckets for eight points, and they led 34-24 at the half.
Mountain Ridge (0-4) came out hot scoring 18 third-quarter points behind 10 from Cameron Breighner, who matched Kris Washington with a team-high 17 points, but Phillips exploded for 12 in the period.
Frankfort, leading 58-42 after three, cruised to its first win despite scoring just nine fourth-quarter points compared to the Miners’ 16.
Phillips was the lone Falcon in double-figures, scoring 30 points on 12 field goals, three 3-pointer sna da 3 for 5 day at the charity stripe.
Bryson McKenzie was second on the squad with nine points, and four other Frankfort players added at least five.
Eli Sibley and Ian Duncan added seven points each for Mountain Ridge.
Mountain Ridge won the junior varsity game 57-44 behind a game-high 25 points from Carter Clites. Kycin Waites tallied 14 to lead the Falcons’ JVs.
Frankfort takes on Philip Barbour at Lincoln on Friday at 5 p.m.
Mountain Ridge faces Washington at Hedgesville on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
