A Pleasant Hill area man driving an all-terrain vehicle on Hwy. 70 W. lost his life when he reportedly made a turn in front of an oncoming vehicle Tuesday.
The driver of the car was shaken but not injured.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol wrote in a preliminary report Derek S. Brown, 42, of the Browntown area west of Pleasant Hill, was traveling toward Crossville on a Kawasaki 4-wheeler.
William A. Snow, 79, was driving a 2008 Lincoln Towncar west when the ATV attempted a left turn onto Canyon View Dr. into the path of the car. The car collided into the side of the all-terrain vehicle. The impact sent the ATV off the road facing west.
The Lincoln left the roadway, struck a sign, traveled through a fence and struck a vehicle parked in a driveway. The car then came to rest against a stump in a yard.
The preliminary report noted Brown was not wearing a helmet. The report also indicates no charges are pending.
Visitation with Brown’s family will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Bilbrey Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Smith Chapel Cemetery.
