DERRY — A popular website used to find doctors and hospitals has given several five-star commendations to Parkland Medical Center.
Healthgrades, one of the top sites used by Americans when looking for doctors or hospitals, has rated several services at Parkland, 1 Parkland Drive, with five stars.
Joanne McCourt, vice president of Quality and Patient Safety at Parkland Medical Center, said the medical center was thrilled to be receiving the recognition from Healthgrades again.
“We’re honored to once again be recognized by Healthgrades for the outstanding quality care we provide to the communities we serve,” said McCourt. “We strive to deliver the best possible care for patients who come to us to help improve their health and quality of life.”
Healthgrades rated Parkland on several different services, including hip fracture treatment, treatment of bowel obstruction, treatment of sepsis and treatment of diabetic emergencies.
The ratings were given out based on a hospital assessment done by Healthgrades that looked at patient outcomes.
The study evaluated approximately 4,500 hospitals across the country to determine which organizations are the best for specialized care. The study evaluated the mortality and complication rates of common conditions and procedures at the different hospitals before determining which ones provided the best care.
In the study, Healthgrades said that if hospitals as a group performed similarly to the hospitals in the study that received five-star ratings from 2021 through 2023, then an average of 224,958 lives would potentially have been saved and 141,692 complications could have been avoided.
Dr. Brad Bowman, the chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades, said that Healthgrades commended Parkland for its dedication and commitment for having excellent patient outcomes.
“Parkland Medical Center’s leadership, expertise, and unwavering dedication to clinical excellence set a high mark for specialty care in New Hampshire and nationwide,” Bowman said.
