OAKLAND — Top-ranked Mountain Ridge cruised to its third straight win to begin the season, routing Southern, 6-0, on Tuesday night.
The Miners, who improved to 1-0 in the Western Maryland Athletic Conference with the win, outscored their first three opponents 15-1. Southern fell to 1-2.
Fiona Ruddell scored two of the Miners’ goals, and Reese Rizzo, Norah Patterson, Izzy Robison and Braelyn Kenney found the back of the net once each.
Jazmyn White had three assists, and Ruddell and Reese Carter had one apiece.
Taylor Lamberson made five saves in goal for the cleansheet. Southern’s Addie Tasker had 20 saves.
Mountain Ridge was at Clear Spring on Thursday night and is at No. 3 Northern on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Southern is at No. 4 Keyser on Saturday at noon.
