Another Dollar General store will be built in Niagara County, this one in the hamlet of Sanborn.
The Lewiston Town Board gave the go-ahead to the Broadway Group, a Huntsville, Alabama, company that works as Dollar General’s real estate arm, to build on a vacant parcel at 2835 Saunders Settlement Road. It’ll be the 17th such store to open in Niagara County.
The approval was dependent on the Broadway Group securing a state Department of Transportation highway work permit and submitting revised site plan drawings to include a triple-wide dumpster area and a landscaping plan. It had received town planning board approval earlier this month, with Broadway Group first seeking town approval this past August.
The new location, touted as an upgraded Dollar General, will be 10,640 square feet and offer produce on top of regular general goods, Rexall drugs, and in-and-out pickup. Deanna Hyche, a development manager with Broadway Group, said it would also feature wood and stone as part of the exterior instead of just metal.
Hyche said they hope to start construction by mid-June and have it finished within 150 days, depending on the weather. The location would employ between eight and 10 employees.
Broadway Group has been involved with constructing between 50 to 60 Dollar Generals in the past six years across New York State. The discount store chain has nearly 20,000 locations across the continental United States and Mexico.
