EFFINGHAM — Ryan Schmidt opened his junior season with a 21-point showing against Rantoul in the St. Anthony Thanksgiving Tournament.
Schmidt was one of three Bulldogs in double-figures in St. Anthony’s 73-43 win.
Brock Fearday added 14 points and Max Koenig had 10 for the Bulldogs (1-0).
Will Fearday added eight points; Collin Westendorf had six; Brady Hatton and Henry Brent had four and Maddox Wiedman, Andrew Brandenburger and Aiden Lauritzen had two.
DJ Davis led Rantoul with 12 points.
Marshall 73, Dieterich 57
The Dieterich Movin Maroons fell to Marshall, 73-57, in the Cumberland Thanksgiving Tournament.
Lucas Westendorf led Dieterich (0-1) with 18 points.
Landen Keck had 12 points, Caleb Gephart had 10, Jaxon Funneman and Brock Niemerg had five, John Holste had three and Tanner Will and Luke Wente had two.
As for Marshall, Payton McGuire had 20 points.
Farina (South Central) 30, Glen Carbon (Father McGivney) 27
The South Central Cougars defeated Glen Carbon (Father McGivney), 30-27, in the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament.
Seth Bergmann and Brody Markley led South Central (1-0) with 12 points each. Andrew Magnus had five and Callaway Smith had one.
Nolan Keller led Father McGivney with 11 points.
St. Elmo/Brownstown 69, Ramsey 32
The St. Elmo/Brownstown Eagles defeated Ramsey, 69-32, in the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament.
St. Elmo (1-0) shot 40 percent from the floor (23-of-57) and 29 percent from three (8-of-28).
Cade Schaub led the Eagles with 19 points (6-of-14), three rebounds and two steals.
Adam Atwood had 17 points (4-of-10), 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists. Brody Mason had 10 points (4-of-11), five rebounds, one steal, two blocks and two assists. Collin Maxey had eight points (4-of-9), one rebound and two assists. Josiah Maxey had four points (1-of-5), one rebound, five steals and five assists. Trenton Monnet had three points and Gavin Sanders, Hunter Poe and Cameron Taylor all had two points.

Effingham 67, Altamont 57
The Effingham Flaming Hearts defeated the Altamont Lady Indians, 67-57, in the Newton Bob Kerans Thanksgiving Tournament.
Averie Wolfe led Effingham (3-0) with 23 points.
Alyssa Martin had 15 points. Sydney Donaldson had 11 and Bria Beals, Olivia Moser and Bella Austin each had six.
As for Altamont (2-1), Grace Nelson had 39 points.
Claire Boehm had 12 points, Skylie Klein had five and Kaylee Lurkins had one.
Newton 55, Flora 22
The Newton Lady Eagles defeated Flora, 55-22, in the Newton Bob Kerans Thanksgiving Tournament.
Camryn Martin led Newton (2-1) with 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals.
Lilly Kessler had 15 points, 11 rebounds and two assists. Karasyn Martin had 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and seven steals. Macy Barthelemy had five points, five rebounds and three steals and Grace Schumacher had four points, five rebounds, two assists and six steals.
Neoga 59, Marshall 50
The Neoga Indians defeated Marshall, 59-50, at Neoga High School.
Brynn Richards led Neoga (1-1) with 16 points.
Atalie Osborn had 12 points, Malory Henderson had 11, Allison Sampson had nine, Haylee Campbell had eight and Gracie Eaton had three.
