The Mississippi Children’s Museum-Meridian is celebrating the holidays during its first-ever Merry at the Museum fundraising event from 7-11 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9.
Merry at the Museum is a new signature event taking the place of Midnight at the Museum, the museum’s former New Year’s Eve celebration. Hosted by MCM-Meridian Partners, a group of volunteers and donors who champion the mission of the museum, this event will offer guests 21 and older an entertaining kick-off to the holidays while supporting MCM-Meridian.
“Merry at the Museum will be a fun and festive way to support the mission of MCM-Meridian,” said Shelby Chaney, director of development and external affairs. “This event aims to kick-off the holiday season each year while raising critical funds to fuel our ongoing operational and growing educational program needs. We anticipate a great turnout and a successful inaugural fundraiser.”
The event promises an evening of festivity with live music provided by Alabama-based R&B band Brother 2 Brother, along with delicious food and cocktails. A children’s Christmas carol will kick off other performances for the night and additional entertainment will take centerstage as the night unfolds, said Rebecca Parker, assistant director of marketing and public relations for MCM-Meridian. Guests are encouraged to dress in cocktail attire and make the most of the holiday celebration.
This will be the museum’s first ever Merry at the Museum event. In prior years, the museum has hosted a New Year’s Eve celebration.
Chaney said the museum decided to host a holiday kick-off event this year instead of the New Year’s Eve celebration because they realized it would be more profitable and less costly.
All-inclusive tickets to Merry at the Museum are $150 per person and feature exquisite hearty bites, an open bar and entertainment. Guests must be 21 and over to attend. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.mcmmeridian.org or will be available at the door on the night of the event. Parker said online ticket purchase is encouraged to help with preparations.
In the spirit of giving, guests also can bid on a wide selection of silent auction items featuring artworks, unique getaways, luxury items and more to gift or keep this holiday season. Bidding will be available online during and after the event, so anyone who wants to support the museum in this way can participate.
Raffle tickets are now available online for $25 for a chance to win a 14-karat diamond tennis bracelet that will be given away at the event. Raffle tickets can be purchased up until 10:30 p.m. Saturday. The winner of the tennis bracelet does not have to be present at the event.
All proceeds from Merry at the Museum will go directly to supporting MCM-Meridian in its mission to create experiences that inspire a lifelong joy of learning in children of all backgrounds. As the museum’s most significant fundraising event of the year, it provides needed funding for operational and educational programming at the museum.
