Athletes of all ages are invited to spend a summer evening running as the City of Meridian’s Parks and Recreation Department gets ready to hold its annual Meridian Moonlight Run on Friday, Aug. 9.
The annual 5k run, 2-mile walk and kid’s fun run will be held at Northeast Park and along Newell Road with the starting line at the girls softball complex.
The nighttime run is a big hit with local runners, as well as school cross country teams who are preparing to start their season.
Starting time for the kid’s fun run will be at 8 p.m. with the 5k run and 2-mile walk slated to start at 8:15 p.m., according to the time2run.net website. Awards in specific age divisions will be presented following the race.
Fees to participate in the race are $20 for the 5k run and 2-mile walk for early registration and $25 on race day. Early registration for the kid’s fun run is $15 and $20 on race day.
To register for the race, go to time2run.net and click on the tab to register for the Moonlight Run or contact the city’s Parks and Recreation Department at 601-485-1802. Registration will also be available the night of the event from 7-7:45 p.m. at Northeast Park.
