The Whitfield Healthcare Foundation announces the launch of Love Lights, a special holiday giving tradition designed to support patients facing financial challenges being cared for by Hamilton Home Health and Hospice and the Peeples Cancer Institute.
The foundation invites community members to make a difference by dedicating lights in honor or in memory of friends, colleagues, teachers, loved ones — even the family pet — to help bring comfort and hope to those in need this holiday season.
For 43 years the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation has collaborated with the Dalton Daily Citizen to co-sponsor Love Lights at Hamilton Medical Center. Each Love Light purchased with the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation will illuminate a symbolic light at Hamilton Medical Center, creating a lovely light display that celebrates the generosity and compassion of Dalton and the surrounding communities.
“The Love Lights holiday giving program is a beautiful way for our community to come together and support our neighbors who are facing some of life’s most difficult challenges. The heartbreaking stories we hear every day become even more touching during the holiday season,” said Gwen Harden, director of Annual and Associate Support at the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation. “Every light that shines on Hamilton’s campus is a beacon of hope and serves as a reminder of the love that surrounds our patients.”
According to Hamilton Home Health Director Blake Nelson, “We are immensely grateful to all the contributors and participants who have supported Love Lights over the years. The spirit of giving has been a joy to witness. This program has not only directly blessed many families in the greater Dalton area but also has fostered a healthier and more caring community.”
Cathy Snyder, a Whitfield Healthcare Foundation trustee and chair of the Annual Support committee states that each gift makes a significant impact: “Love Lights is the perfect way to kick off the holiday giving season. There is no better opportunity for our community to celebrate our family, friends and pets while also providing support to patients in need. I challenge everyone in our community — from individuals and families to businesses — to purchase at least one Love Light. Together, we can make the holiday season brighter for patients and their families.”
To participate in the Love Lights holiday giving program, community members can scan the QR code displayed around town or phone the foundation at (706) 272-6128. As each Love Light is purchased, an acknowledgement card is mailed to those honored or to the family of those being memorialized. The names of those being honored or remembered, as well as those who have purchased Love Lights, will be listed in the weekend editions of the Dalton Daily Citizen during December.
Love Lights contribution fliers will be included in the Nov. 15 edition of the Dalton Daily Citizen. You also can find Love Lights information in the Dalton Daily Citizen with each week’s donor listing.
