The Limestone County Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors recently announced its Class of 2024 inductees.
This year’s induction ceremony is set for June 8th at the Alabama Veterans Museum in Athens. Tickets for the event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., can be purchased through United Way of Athens-Limestone County by calling 256-233-2323.

Heidi Barnes – A two-sport star for Athens High School, Barnes helped the Golden Eagles earn state championships in both basketball and softball. Barnes scored more than 1,000 points during her basketball career and was named state tournament MVP in 1999. She was also selected Class 5A Player of the Year in softball.
Hubert Chittam – The starting point guard on West Limestone High School’s basketball team, Chittam helped guide the Wildcats to the 1956 state title. Chittam led the team in free-throw percentage, assists and steals. He was named to the All-State Tournament Team.
Garner Ezell – Ezell amassed a 119-51 record during his 15 seasons coaching football at Lexington, Cherokee and Athens High School. He was named Class 3A Coach of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association in 1984. His 79-34 record at Athens equates to the highest winning percentage of any head coach in program history.
Harlow Fikes – A multi-sport athlete at Athens High School, Fikes excelled in basketball, football and golf for the Golden Eagles. He earned numerous letters in the three sports. Fikes played football at the University of North Alabama and was a four-year starter as the Lions’ punter. He set numerous school records and was a three-time All-Conference selection.
Richard Hendrix – Hendrix was a four-year starter for Athens High School, where he was coached by his father and 2023 LCSHOF inductee Venard Hendrix. The younger Hendrix was a consensus High School All-American and played collegiately at the University of Alabama. He averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds per game during his career with the Crimson Tide. He was later drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft.
Shea Moore – One of the most decorated athletes in Tanner High School history, Moore led the Rattlers to the Class 2A state title in 1983 and was named state tournament MVP. While playing for the Rattlers, Moore earned All-County, All-Area and All-State honors and was a USA Today honorable mention All-American.
Jackie Moran – Moran was an All-State selection in basketball at West Limestone High School and helped lead the Wildcats to two Final Four appearances. He graduated as the school’s all-time leader in scoring (2,069 points) — averaging 17.8 points across 116 games. He played collegiately at Martin Methodist College and Athens State College. He was named to the NAIA Southeast Independent All-Regional Team while at Athens State.
Trevor Washington – One of the best basketball players in Trinity High School history, Washington — who averaged 32.6 points per game — is the school’s all-time leading scorer. Washington took his prolific shooting talents to Alabama A&M University. He averaged 14 points and 8.2 rebounds per game during his career with the Bulldogs.
Chris Whitt – Whitt led Tanner’s varsity boys basketball program to unprecedented heights as head coach for the Rattlers. During his tenure, Tanner claimed two state championships, 13 Final Four appearances, 12 county championships and 21 area championships. His career record at Tanner High School was a remarkable 586-196.
