In his Daily News boys basketball MVP write-up from this winter, we mentioned how intriguing the recruitment of Carson Gretz is going to be over the summer. The 6-foot-5 rising-senior averaged 15.2 points per game this past year in helping Newburyport reach the Division 3 quarterfinals, and can score both in the paint, and on the perimeter as shown by his 46 3s.
Well, Gretz has certainly been doing himself a lot of favors over the past few weeks.
Playing for Rivals Elite during the summer AAU circuit, Gretz is drawing rave reviews. Rivals Elite sent out a tweet saying, “Newburyport’s Carson Gretz is relentless on the offensive glass,” along with a pair of videos where he tips in an offensive rebound, and showcases a quick release in draining a triple.
Gretz is still uncommitted, but probably not for much longer.
