THOMASVILLE – With over 100 breweries in contention including some major brands, local Thomasville brewery Tvelo took home the award for “Best Brewery” at the Tallahassee Beer Festival.
“It’s just great to represent the city of Thomasville in such a way, especially with the Thomasville Brew Fest coming up September 7,” said Tvelo co-owner Maurice Jackson.
More than 3,000 people including patrons, volunteers, and vendors attended the event this past weekend sampling beer from over 100 different breweries. Tvelo came prepared with Jackson saying they were “staffed like Chick-fil-A that day.” Tvelo sought to help patrons as they tried their best beers. They brought three of their beers to the Tallahassee Beer Festival, including their coffee blonde, peach cobbler kettle sour, and brown ale. As Jackson said, Tvelo is in the people business, not the beer business.
Jackson spoke on how validating the award is for him and Tvelo Brewing Company.
“There’s just some days where you wonder if what you’re doing is making a difference. Is it worth it? And you have some tangible things that say you’re on the right path,” Jackson said. “Something like this just validates that to another degree. We’re very excited that we have this unique product.”
This award coming in the state of Florida is well timed as Tvelo is about to start distributing in Florida.
“It was great to get a win in the state of Florida as we make plans to begin to distribute in Florida,” said Jackson.
All are invited to taste their products with the upcoming Thomasville Brew Fest on September 7.
