Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley hosted a ribbon cutting and groundbreaking ceremony Saturday, June 22, for its first Habitat for Humanity home in Limestone County.
The Habitat for Humanity affiliate has served Madison, Limestone and Jackson counties for 37 years.
Area churches, businesses sponsors, volunteers and elected officials — including Athens mayor Ronnie Marks and Bethany Shockney, president of the Limestone County Economic Development Association — were all on hand to celebrate the event.
Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley was established in 1987, and has partnered with more than 330 families to help realize their dream of affordable homeownership. In 2022, the affiliate announced it would be expanding service to include Limestone County.
