LAWRENCE — Swimming, hoops, softball and hockey are among the sports being celebrated in observance of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
On Saturday morning, as part of the “Championing Her Game” series, a Junior Celtics Academy Basketball Clinic was held at Lawrence High School.
The free clinics are offered to girls 8 to 14 through Wednesday, Feb. 7, which is National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
The clinics are being hosted by the city and the nonprofit Everyone’s A Player.
School officials said Michelle Adamic, executive director of EAP, is heavily involved in the clinics. Adamic works directly with sports programs, schools, community and partner organizations and agencies to create healthy and active programming and equitable opportunities for youth to experience the tremendous benefits of sports and physical activity.
