PERRY – Roughly 700 Republican supporters gathered at the Georgia National Fairgrounds Saturday for the 21st Annual 8th District Republican Party Fish Fry.
Colquitt County GOP chairman Dennis Futch attended the event and said, “This was the largest gathering of the Republican Party, other than the state convention.”
The event was headlined by Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley and 8th District Congressman Austin Scott.
Futch said that he believed Whatley thought the event important enough to attend and no RNC chairman had done that in recent history.
Attendees also heard from Georgia Republican Party Chairman Josh McKoon, 2nd Congressional nominee Dr. Wayne Johnson and others.
Eighth District Chairman Chan Jones called the event a great success and said, “It is truly a labor of love for the army of volunteers. There is a palpable feeling of cohesion heading into the November election.”
