Girls Track
Haverhill High took home four individual victories to lead the field at Wednesday’s Merrimack Valley Conference Meet at Boston University.
Taking gold for the Hillies were Lauren Downder, running a PR 5:22.02 to win the mile (5:22.02), Sophia Riley in 600 (1:40.75), Brenna Corcoran in the 1,000 (3:12.01) and Maddie Goncalves in the shot put (38-8.5).
Central Catholic scored a trio of victories, with Anya Neira taking the 300 (42.03), Macy Daigle winning the high jump (5-4) and Veralie Perrier taking the long jump (16-8.25). Methuen’s Lauren Quarm won the 55-meter dash in a blazing 7.31.
Finishing runner-up were Haverhill’s Sophia Riley in the dash (7.69), North Andover’s Luna Prochazkova in the mile (5:35.84), North Andover’s Erika Wojcik in the 600 (1:40.98), Central’s Laura Fennessy in the 1,000 (3:13.20), Raider Madeline Courtemanche in the 2-mile (11:16.30) and North Andover’s Makenna Dube in the shot put (36-9).
Boys Track
Methuen’s Josh Kwakye set a new personal record, winning the 55-meter dash to lead the local competitors at Wednesday’s MVC Meet at Boston University.
Ranger teammate Josh Polonco added a victory of his own, winning the 300 with a PR 36.81. Haverhill’s Connor Chmielski threw a stellar 49-4.5 to win the shot put. North Andover’s Dylan Cote won the 1,000 (2:40.50), Andover’s James Gallaudet took the 2-mile (9:52.69) and Golden Warrior Connor Lys won the high jump (6-5).
Adding second-place finishes were Andover’s Patrick Allardi in the 55 hurdles (8.18), Central Catholic’s Sean Kim in the 600 (1:26.31), Andover’s Kyle Haskell in the 1,000 (2:42.51), North Andover’s Emmett LaRosa (9:55.60), North Andover’s Jason Gendreau in the long jump (18-10.25), Haverhill’s Myles Robertson in the shot put (48.6.25) and Connor McCarthy in the high jump (6-2).
Wrestling
Haverhill 64, Lawrence 12
Hillies sophomore Octavio Harrold (150 pounds) scored his second pin of the season, earning the fall in 1:58. Also scoring quick pins for the Hillies were Michael Morris at 113 (1:29), Cale Wood at 1:20 (1:19), Shea Morris at 138 (1:24), Camden O’Donnell at 157 (1:30) and Matthew Harrold at 215 (1:17). Shany Velasquez earned an 8-2 decision at 285 for the Hillies (14-1), who next travel to Sullivan County, N.Y., for the Eastern States Classic on Friday and Saturday.

Timberlane 37, Keene 35
The Owls held off a late surge from the heart of the Keene lineup, and Cole Abel sealed the win with a first period pin in the second to last match of the night. Ryan Kontos has a big major decision at 215 and Peter Morrissey recorded a second period fall as well. Up next for the 10-0 Owls is the Big Red Duals in Souderton, Pa.

The winners for the Scarlet Knights were Josh Lister (138, wbf), Sebastian Hunter (144, wbf), Kyle Rhoton (150, dec. 7-2), Jack Hart (175, dec. 11-5) and Gabe Spanks (215, dec. 4-3).

Only four weight were contested, with the rest forfeits. Scoring wins on the mat for the Astros were Mason Beaudin at 132 (pin, 1:16), Lance Bordeleau at 144 (pin, 1:23), Nelphison DeAlmeida at 175 (pin, 1:29) and James Caruso at 215 (pin, 1:08).

Earning wins for the Wildcats (8-7-1) were Aiden Fogarty (113, pin), Anthony Midolo (165, major dec. 19-5), Matheus Binda (190, pin) and Logan Hauck (215, pin).

The Reggies keep it rolling. Jaeda Flores led the Reggies charge with nine points and six steals, playing shutdown defense while diving on every loose ball. Camila Colon came off the bench scoring seven points and two assists.

Divier Ramos won the vault (9.85), bars (9.2) and floor routine (9.75) to lead the Rangers. Caroline Vecchi won the beam (8.6) and Kendra Scott took second in the all-around (33.1) for Methuen (3-1).

Jake Costa tallied a hat trick for the Hillies in the losing effort. Matt Costa added the other goal for Haverhill (2-6).

The Scarlet Knights fell to 4-4-0 on the season.
Andover 3, Chelmsford 1
The Golden Warriors improved to 4-3-1 on the season.
Methuen 7, Cambridge 1
The Rangers improved to 7-0-1. Dominic Romano and Quinn Ronan each score two goals, while Noah Kneeland, Adam Lambert and Liam Worden each had a single tally. Aiden Cashman contributed three assists.
