North Murray (8-13) won both games in a Friday doubleheader against Gordon Central (1-16) to finish off a three-game sweep of a Region 7-2A series.
North Murray won Friday’s first game 12-1 and shut out Gordon Central 8-0 in the second.
In the first game, North Murray piled up seven runs in the third inning, and the game was called after five.
Anthony Skojac and Joel Mallett each had two RBIs, and Mallett had a pair of doubles.
Skojac pitched all five innings, allowing just three hits and struck out five.
In the second game, North Murray scored at least a run in all innings but the fourth as it built an 8-0 shutout win.
Luke Maton pitched 4 1/3 innings of the shutout, striking out five and allowing just three hits. Mallett and Caden Painter combined to pitch the other three innings and didn’t allow a hit.
Jayden Scott homered for the Neers, and Skojac doubled.
North Murray plays Haralson County today at noon.
Ringgold 5, Coahulla Creek 4
Coahulla Creek (6-10) pushed Friday’s game with Ringgold (14-5) to nine innings, but the Tigers downed the Colts 5-4 after scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth.
Creek led 4-3 entering the seventh, but Ringgold tied the game in the seventh, then went ahead in the ninth.
Keith Collins went 4-for-5 in the game for the Colts. Brody Howell doubled and had two RBIs. Luke Swiney had an RBI and Peyton King doubled.
The Colts play at LaFayette on Tuesday.
Cartersville 3, Dalton 0 Cartersville 7, Dalton 1
Dalton (5-13) was downed in both games of a doubleheader at Cartersville (17-3) Friday night.
Cartersville won 3-0 and 7-1 over Dalton, finishing a sweep of a three-game Region 7-5A series.
Dalton pitcher RJ Donahue held Cartersville to six hits and three runs over six innings in the first game, but the Catamount bats couldn’t get going. Jose Orrelanes went 2-for-2 with a double for Dalton, finishing with half of Dalton’s four hits.
In the second game, Dalton was held off the board until the sixth inning, and Cartersville won 7-1. Conrad Coleman had the lone RBI for Dalton as the Catamounts were held to four hits.
Dalton plays Sonoraville on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Cedartown 9, Northwest Whitfield 4 Cedartown 8, Northwest Whitfield 2
Northwest Whitfield held a 15-2 record entering a three-game series with Cedartown, but the Bruins lost all three to the Bulldogs to fall to 15-5.
After an 11-2 loss on Monday, Northwest fell 9-4 and 8-2 to Cedartown on Friday.
In the first game, Cedartown exploded for all nine of its runs in the sixth to erase Northwest’s 4-0 lead.
In the second, Cedartown led 4-2 entering the bottom of the sixth before another big sixth inning pushed its lead to 8-2.
Northwest plays Murray County on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Sonoraville 10, Southeast Whitfield 0 Sonoraville 10, Southeast Whitfield 0
Southeast Whitfield (5-18) fell in both games of a doubleheader to Sonoraville (7-9) Friday, losing both games 10-0.
In both games, Sonoraville scored at least a run in each inning and the games were both ended after five innings.
Southeast was held to two hits in the first, coming off the bats of Elijah Couch and Nate Seay. Couch, Grant McArthur and Noah Singleton each had a hit in the second game.
Southeast starts a series with Cedartown on April 8.
Model 11, Murray County 1 Model 13, Murray County 3
Murray County (3-13) dropped a pair of games in a doubleheader against Model (14-5) Friday.
Murray lost the first 11-1 and the second 13-3.
The Indians were held to just one hit in the first game, a Tristyn Perry single.
In the second game, Murray sprinted out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning, but Model scored four in the second to take the lead, then added nine runs in the fifth to end the game.
Perry and Mason Weaver each had an RBI in the first inning, and Aidan McClure hit a double.
