POTOMAC PARK — Growden Heating and Cooling swept a doubleheader against Elite Appalachian Development (EAD) on Saturday, taking the first game 6-5 and the second 8-7 at Hamilton Field.
In the opener, Nick Brown earned the win in 6 1/3 innings for Growden (3-2), striking out six with one earned run.
He also recorded a double and two RBIs.
Lukas McMillan doubled, singled and drove in a pair of RBIs.
Cameron Hook earned the save, recording the final two outs.
Burrell led EAD with two singles with EAD’s five other hits coming from five different players.
Glotfelty took the loss for EAD.
First names were not provided.
In the nitecap, Growden led 5-4 entering the top of the seventh.
EAD scored three runs off a couple base hits and a fielding error to take a 7-5 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, A.J. Bascelli hit a leadoff double and later a hit batter and a walk loaded the bases with no outs.
Strummer Condry sent an RBI single to right center, cutting EAD’s lead to 7-6.
After a strikeout, Brown grounded into a fielder’s choice to tie the game.
With runners on the corners and two outs, McMillan hit a ball down the right field line, just keeping it fair for a walk-off hit.
Hook earned the win in three innings out of the bullpen. He allowed two earned runs, three hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
McCartney took the loss, entering the game in the fifth inning for EAD with a 4-3 lead. He allowed five runs across the next two innings.
Growden heads to Grantsville Park to face Grantsville on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
EAD hosted Chessie Federal Credit Union on Monday before heading to Accident to face Rush Services on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
