BYFIELD — The Governor’s Academy is exhibiting the works of Amy Hourihan, Elizabeth Lorayne, Andrea Maginnis, and Chris Robinson, known as the Four Sparrows, in the Peter C. Remis Lobby of the Wilkie Center for the Performing Arts through Jan. 10.
The Four Sparrows is a group of artists and printmakers who seek to embody resilience, adaptability, and hope. The show, First Flight, celebrates the artists’ shared journey of discovery through the unpredictable, challenging, and deeply satisfying world of printmaking.
Hourihan, a painter and printmaker, finds vibrancy and texture in her work. Lorayne, a printmaker, Jungian coach, and author, infuses her pieces with symbolic depth. Maginnis does printmaking and assemblages, creating new forms and patterns out of everyday objects. Robinson’s prints are often grounded in personal narratives.
Together, the artists embrace the sparrow as a symbol of hope. First Flight will be displayed in the Peter C. Remis Lobby in the Wilkie Center for the Performing Arts on The Governor’s Academy campus until Jan. 10. A reception takes place Friday, Jan. 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The gallery is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays, and Saturday and Sunday by appointment. Please contact Shanna Fliegel to make an appointment.
