For the fifth consecutive summer, Gloucester High head field hockey coach Lauren Riley-Gove and her staff hosted their annual alumni game at Newell Stadium earlier this month.
This year, the 2020’s players were pitted against the 2010’s crew, with the more seasoned squad ultimately coming out with a 5-4 victory. Former GHS standout Mia Sallah had a hat trick in the win.
“There’s tons of talent on the field during these games; it’s always a really fun night with some crowd favorites of yesteryear,” said Riley-Gove. “It’s like the ultimate dream team, and everyone brings their A-game. It’s always a competitive, fun match with great sportsmanship and tons of laughs. I know (my) dad and I always look forward to seeing our girls and the girls love coming to play.”
Also scoring for the winning squad was Cate Delaney and Rachel Alexander. On the losing side, Aria Caputo, Anna Cinelli, Ella Costa and Abby Lowthers each found the back of the cage to keep things close.
