The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association’s 85th annual awards banquet and 23rd Hall of Fame induction banquet is set for May 31 through June 1 in Dalton.
The weekend events will be held at the Dalton Convention Center, home of the GACA Hall of Fame. Six coaches will be inducted this year.
Chuck Buckle (cross country and track), Terry Cadenhead (baseball), David Jones (basketball), Eddie Martin (basketball), Rayvan Teague (football) and Tony Wolfe (softball) will all be inducted.
Shandalia Arrendale will be receiving the Beverly Sanders Raines Award, Sterling McRae-Carter is the Official of the Year and Tina Blount of Four Winds Marketing will receive the Carlton “Corky” Kell Award. Alissa Stone will get the Dwight Keith Award, Tanya Anderson is the recipient of the Sam Burke Award, Cris Criswell wins the Calvin Lee Murray Award and Tommy Howell is set to get the Ray Broadaway Executive Directors Award.
The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association was established in 1938. Dwight Keith was the first executive director, in 2001 the Hall of Fame was established in Dalton and Ray Broadaway was the executive director. The Hall of Fame has 130 inductees.
