GIRLS SOCCER
Danvers 3, Marblehead 1: Senior captain Georgia Prouty had a pair of goals and freshman defender Aly Doucette had an incredible game on defense to help spark the Falcons (5-1). Junior Lila Doucette had a great game up top while Ashley Freitas was stellar at midfield, Emma Sutherland played well defensively, Maddie Dembowski had nine saves and DeAnna Figueiredo also scored.
Beverly 0, Peabody 0: The Tanners (2-3-2) and Panthers (3-2-3) traded scoring chances but neither could finish thanks to good work by keepers Clara Kostro (Beverly) and Alessandra Forgione (Peabody). For Beverly, Lily McCarthy, Sasha Miller and Grace Galbreath were outstanding in the back and Aca Freitas was strong in the middle. Madi Barrett, Marley Loring, Connie Patturelli and Brooks Lomasney stood out for Peabody.
Waring 1, Landmark 1: Senior Ellie Miller made five saves and junior Juliette Hale led the Waring defensive unit against a strong Landmark side. Violet Acheson scored the Wolfpack’s goal on an assist from junior Alex Vaca.
Covenant Christian 3, Brimmer & May 1: Nova Jones had a couple of goals for the Cougars and Greta Baird added one score of her own.
VOLLEYBALL
Notre Dame Hingham 3, Marblehead 2: Greta Sachs had 23 kills and Issy Browning had eight but the Magicians (5-3) came out on the wrong end of a marathon match, 24-26, 25-14, 25-17, 22-25, 14-16. Setter Eva Burke had a great match with 41 assists as well as a team-best 19 digs.
Beverly 3, Hamilton-Wenham 0: Captain Gabby Wickeri had 17 assists, nine of which went to her co-captain Aleek Kuot in a 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 Panthers win. Sophomore Lidia Miedema had five blocks and freshman Julia Marks had a pair.
Junior Morgan Etna led the Generals with four aces, four digs and two kills and senior Ava Day had 13 digs.
Essex Tech 3, Lynnfield 0: The Hawks picked up an impressive win as Sienna Getty had 25 assists to go with 17 digs and Kaylin Potter totaled up 11 kills. Freshman Lavinya Olivera had a good all-around match with nine kills, eight aces and 10 digs and classmate Aca Rocheleau added eight kills.
Swampscott 3, Malden Catholic 0: After winning an extra long first set, 35-33, the Big Blue finished out the sweep with 25-23, 25-17 wins. Lila paster had 12 service points plus a team-high in kills and Marta Sirota added 16 serving points, three aces and 15 digs.
Covenant Christian 3, Chapel Hill Chauncey Hall 0: The Cougars grabbed a 25-8, 25-7, 25-10 sweep.
Masconomet 3, Newburyport 0: Cate Wettstone had 10 kills, three blocks and three aces and the Chieftains handled the Clippers, 25-4, 25-19, 25-23. Mae Brady added eight kills with four blocks, Alba Vranari had 12 kills and 18 digs, Aimee Quimby had 20 digs, Chloe Lodewick had 10 digs and three aces, Lidia Benedetto had 25 digs and Jordan Draper handed out 31 assists.
Lynn Classical 3, Peabody 0: The Tanners couldn’t carry momentum from Thursday’s triumph over Fenwick into this one, falling to the Rams on the road.
BOYS SOCCER
Beverly 2, Peabody 0: Junior Daniel Silva had both goals with sophomore Connor Sullivan assisted on each of them and captain Mark Beatty had a stellar all-around game to power the Panthers. Senior captain Connor Connolly earned his second shutout of the season in net. Keeper Dylan Flanagan and defender Jayden Lopez played well for the Tanners, who just couldn’t generate much offense in this one.
Marblehead 2, Danvers 2: Ilan Druker produced a pair of goals to give the Magicians a tie at home.
Ipswich 1, Saugus 1: The Tigers and Sachems were fit to be tied in a non-league matchup.
Covenant Christian 5, CWS 0: Bennett Plosker had two goals to power the Cougars while Wes Libby, Jacob Libby and Colin Moll also scored and Isaac Portugal had a pair of assists.
Waring 3, Landmark 1: Eli Bayer had a goal and an assist to spark Waring and Asher Sauder and Solomon Bennett also found the back of the net.
FIELD HOCKEY
Danvers 1, Saugus 0: Grace McLaughlin had a four-save shutout and Mia Lewis scored the game’s only goal to give the Falcons (1-5-1) their first win of the season. Emma Cross assisted on the game-winning tally, with Caroline Horn and Cali Coffin having excellent defensive games for Danvers.
Ipswich 2, Marblehead 0: Freshman Ava Poire scored both goals while junior captain Abbie Allen stopped all seven shots she saw for her fourth shutout this season as the Tigers improved to 3-2-2. Jayne Krause, a senior captain, earned her first career point on an assist as well.
Goalies Maggie Beauchesne and Elizabeth Hayes combined to make five saves for Marblehead (now 2-4).
Gloucester 2, Peabody 0: A terrific effort between the pipes for sophomore goalie Sophia Kassis (23 saves) highlighted the Tanners’ road showing. Leah Bresnahan, Panayiota Nikolouzos, and Elizabeth Moore all had defensive saves for Peabody (0-4-1), with Panayiota playing an excellent all-around game.
Newburyport 5, Swampscott 0: The Big Blue (now 3-5) were unable to slow down a potent Newburyport attack in a road defeat.
